How to Unblock Websites

How to Unblock Websites

If you need to know how to unblock websites, this article will give you some tips. Sometimes certain sites are blocked because a government or employer does not like the content or wants to discourage the spread of information. They believe they can control the internet and stop people from visiting sites and seeing content they do not like. Unfortunately for them, there are just as many ways to unblock websites as there are to block them in the first place.

Some places like schools or businesses will block sites like Facebook because they want students/employees to be focusing on learning/working. While this is not necessarily wrong, sometimes people need access to Facebook as a communication tool or to access certain info like a phone number. Usually the institution will have a block that will refuse to load Facebook (or the social network of your choice) in the browser.

Figuring out how to unblock websites like this is usually simple. This is easy to bypass by using a proxy. There are an endless number of proxy websites, so I shall not list them here, all you have to do is Google to find one and then use it to navigate to the blocked site. The schools blocking software will believe you are on the proxy site, not the social site, which the proxy site will load for you. This is the easiest and often most effective method to unblock websites. It is very difficult to stop proxy websites because they are easy to change and remake with a slightly different address.

Some video sites will block music or television content based on what country you are from because the rights to the content are not settled for your country. So when you try to watch the video, you just get a message that the video is not available in your country. So how do you unblock websites like this? The easiest answer to this is to find the same video posted elsewhere that does not have a block. If you cannot find it, then you can again you a proxy to hide your IP, just from a country that is not blocked (likely the home country of the content) and then the video should be allowed to load.

This should help unblock websites that are blocked in the most common ways. Sometimes to unblock websites you will need more than these proxy tools, but that is more involved and for another article.
